The AI colonialism board game

On 13 April 2024 MADlab organised the dissemination workshop The AI colonialism board game. The aim of the activity was the dissemination of ongoing research on the topic of datasets used in AI from a decolonial and feminist perspective, to local Cyprus-based communities consisting of non-expert audiences. The workshop was public and open to everyone. Adopting Mary Flanagan’s Critical Play methodology (2009), the workshop participants collaboratively explored how ongoing artistic research can be utilised to hijack often Western-centric technological advances, as a form of care for empowerment, agency and representation.
